Hazard Tree Removal Nakusp Hot Springs Trail April 20 – 22
True North Forestry’s faller Jason T spent three hard days falling hazard trees on the Nakusp Hot Springs Trail April 20 to 23.26, assisted by Nellis Sargeant on Monday, Carol H on Tuesday and Jamie D on Wednesday, and Bob T on all three. Jason was very impressive, expertly selecting the most dangerous of the dead snags and overhangs, falling them where they would do the least damage to standing trees or the trail. Awesome. We lost track of how many trees came down, but it was lots. The assistants had the easy job, mainly guarding the trail and helping roll off some of the falls. The trail is safer than it was, but must still be used at the hikers own risk. There are still many hazard trees left that in windy conditions could pose a threat. We got the worst of the worst.
The feature photo is of Jason, Carol and Bob. Sorry to Nellis and Jamie for not getting a photo of them!
